As the nurse stood by her bedside changing the IV bag she heard a faint and frightened voice; "Umm excuse ma'am what happened to me? Where am I?"
The nurse turned to her and gently took the woman's hand. "Sweetie, you are in the hospital. You were in a horrible accident. Let me go get the doctor. I'll be right back."
The woman could tell she was bandaged from head to toe. At least that is what it felt like. She wanted to lift up her left arm so she could feel the bandages on her face. However, she couldn't because her wrists were in restraints.
The doctor walked in along with the nurse.
"Well hello young lady. How are you feeling?" He asked
"Hi, I feel like I was hit by a mac truck." She replied.
"Yes, you were hit by an eighteen wheeler. Do you remember that?"
"No." She answered
"Do you know where you are?"
"The nurse told me that I am in a hospital."
"Do you know what your name is? Do you know what city you are in?" The doctor questioned.
The woman just stared out the window. She was deep in thought.
"Ma'am do you " the doctor started to ask again. However he was interrupted.
"No!" she said as she started to panic. "No, I don't know my name. No I don't know what city I am in. No, I don't remember getting hit by a truck. What in the hell are these restraints for?" She started to pull her arms up trying to break free of the restraints."Get them off!" she screamed. "Get them off me! Damn it, get em off!"
"Ma'am the reason the restraints are there is because we didn't want you to pull at any of the tubes or IV while you were unconscious. It was for your safety." The doctor explained.
